I'm always looking for new sources of inspiration. A simple picture, a particular feeling, an emotion that I can put to music. Or in this case, an ancient Bulgarian legend about woodland fairies called Samodivi. Fascinatingly ethereal maidens with long loose hair. Mysterious creatures able to command the elements of winds supported by the imperial eagles. Armed with bows and arrows, they ride gracefully gray deer using reins of intertwisted snakes...
Zirconia (2006)
I love to blend western and middle-eastern music. Symphonic orchestra spiced with ethnic instruments and percussion. The idea behind Zirconia was to write music that could be used for a ballet. A dance that tells an Alladin-meets-Indiana type of story. With a princess, and an evil wizard who forces children into slavery to dig for diamonds. Unfortunately I never finished it, and I probabely never will...
